Today I turned 1/4 of a Century old. The big 25! I got a cake, balloons, and flowers and a couple presents from my awesome family. Friday night Casey and my parents took me to Texas Roadhouse for my Birthday dinner and then we went to the Wilderness Circuit Finals Rodeo in Ogden. Just as I was saying "I'm glad you guys didn't do the saddle thing for my Birthday this year" the waiter sure enough brought out the saddle and made me sit in it and yell "Yee Haw".

Mr. Preference Judge
Well I started a new family blog for Casey and me a couple days ago and I said to myself "I am not going to have anything to blog about. I go to work every day and play wife every night" but I thought it would be a good way to keep a journal about us, it would motivate me to take more pictures when we do fun things, and I also enjoyed keeping my blog when I served a year as Miss Rodeo Utah.
I didn't expect my first blog entry to be about judging a male pageant. Mr. Preference that is. For those of you that didn't go to Wasatch High School, Preference is a girl's choice dance and they crown a Mr. Preference, just like Prom King. My wonderful father-in-law was asked to be a judge because he is a county commissioner. Well he thought that he would be helpful and refer his daughter-in-law "with more pageant judging experience". I think Jay would've been a little uncomfortable to see some of the things I saw today, as would any male judge. Luckily for all the men out there, it was an all female judging panel with myself, Miss Wasatch Jessica Earnshaw, and Miss Wasatch 2009's mother Leslie Smith.
We judged the contestants in modeling formal wear (I felt like I was at a bachelorette party more than I felt like I was in a high school auditorium), talent, and impromptu question. The contestants were all very entertaining and I'm glad that I was able to be involved.
Preference has also been famous for some of the creative ways in which girls ask their dates. When I was in high school, one of my obvious ways of asking one year was at a rodeo after my date got bucked off his bucking horse, the announcer asked him over the microphone. The funnest thing I did was as a sophomore. Late one night some of my girlfriends helped me make a pathway of Hershey kisses and roses all the way down my date's sidewalk of his home and there was a poster that said "Now that I've showered you with roses and kissed the ground you walk on, will you be my date to preference" and his family had to open ALL of the Hershey kisses wrappers, to find the name of who was asking him to Preference.
Walking through the new high school hallways with the kids was a little stroll down memory lane and reminded me how lucky it was to be a kid at one time and how bad I did not want to go back to work for the day........
