27 Months

These are a few of the things Cael has said to me today- May 21, 2014

"Dad is working cows, turning off water, should we go see him? Should we?"

I pull a chair up to the kitchen table and let him make cookies and bread with me all the time, so he likes to pretend that he is cooking and he was playing with the baby bullet and said "I make sugar okay Colt? The best ever in the whole world"

He was on the phone with his dad and when they got off I said "Dad loves you Cael" and he said "uh huh, he sure does".

"Should we melt marshmallows in the fire truck?"

I don't know where this one came from but he repeated it over and over during lunch "mom be careful, police officer is coming". I would say "okay I will be careful" and he would say "you're a good boy mom"

He loves to go change sprinklers and mow the lawn with his dad. It is the highlight of his day to be outside with his dad. And I love that too.

When he rides his rocking horse he rocks it as hard as it will go and he will say "yee-haw ride em cowboy. Come on. Faster"

A couple times a week he will put his stuffed animals down for a nap while colt is napping and he will shush me and tell me his baby is sleeping. And he does diaper changes on them too.

He has been going to nursery for over a month now, it took us quite a while to get him to like it in there and now he LOVES it. He asks to go to nursery on week days. Usually Casey gets him when church is over but the leaders are always telling Casey they can't believe how good he talks. He always colors something and brings it home for me. He is always singing the songs when he comes home. He can sing his ABC's pretty good, he can count to 12 consistently (sometimes higher), and he knows his colors pretty good. He can operate my cell phone better than I can. He will fold his arms and pray; he always blesses the food and his grandma and grandpa.

When I read what should be expected of a two year old, he is right on track, but I can't believe how smart he is and how much he talks and understands things.

He can still wear 18 month pants but they are 3-4 inch floods. He is just a skinny little guy, so he wears 2T and we have to adjust the waist as much as possible.

Oh yes and he has a love/hate relationship with hair cuts. He talks about them to me all of the time. He will say "should we go to grandmas and get a haircut" and then when it is actually time to get a haircut, he will scream bloody murder until we actually start cutting his hair and then he will giggle the whole time and is so excited afterwards and then he talks about it for 6 more weeks.

We took the binky away from him for the second time and it was just as easy as the first. We lost them all when he was 16 months and decided we were done with them. When Colt was born and Cael was 22 months, he rebounded and started playing with them again and it was starting to become a problem. He was whining one day about not being able to find his binky. We have like 6 of them but I just told him to go find one and he just kept whining that he couldn't find it and I was about ready to explode so I grabbed one out of the drawer and said here is your binky! And I grabbed the scissors and cut the tip off and handed it to him. He was so distraught. And then I grabbed another one and did the same thing. He cried for about 20-30 minutes and then I told him to pick them up and throw them away so he did and that was it!!! No more binkies!!! I know, I'm a mean mom, but life is so much easier without them!

We finally got our trampoline put up Memorial weekend Sunday and he thinks that is pretty fun.

4 months, 26 months

My boys are growing up so fast, I can barely keep up, but I don't want to forget some of the milestones that we pass.

Colt had his four month checkup and weighed 15.04 lbs and had to get more shots. He kind of got out of his sleep routine for a couple days after shots, but now we are getting it all worked out and he is sleeping from about 8:30 to 5:30 consistently. He doesn't nap much during the day, maybe 2-3 little cat naps. Occasionally they are longer but even with little short naps, he is pretty content and happy. I fed him rice cereal for his first time yesterday. My doctor says six months, but I started Cael at four months and he seemed to do well with it.

We took the boys to see great grandma Gwen. She hadn't seen the baby yet. Cael likes going to her place. She has a lot of stuffed animals from her Bingo winnings. :)

Colt has turned in to a thumb sucker.

Cael likes to play with Colt.

I have taken Cael to the park a couple times lately. He plays pretty good, I just have a hard time getting him to leave. I have to bribe him by saying "you want to go drive by the cows" and then he'll leave. Candy does no good.

One day some older kids were playing tag and running all around him. He was just standing there watching and I asked him what he was doing and he said "I'm chasing the kids".

We made garden stepping stones for both grandmas for mother's day. Colt made some too with his hands and feet, but I didn't get pictures of his. I think they turned out pretty cute. I want to get some for my own yard.

Cael likes to climb on Colts high chair. Here he is showing him how to be a monkey. I have done everything I can to stop this and I'm pretty sure until he falls and breaks his head, it is going to continue. I hope it is just a normal boy thing and that I'm going to survive it.

Cael reads books to Colt on the bathroom floor while I shower.

I ordered a large print of both boys newborn pictures. I can't wait to get them. I think they are so cute. Love my babies.
