Cael has become a real big helper around the house. He likes to bake and play with the hot pads, he climbs up on the counter no matter what measures I have taken to keep him off of it, he likes to lick the beaters clean when we make frosting, and he likes to mop the floor and vacuum, he helps his dad drive the tractors. I try to let him help and praise him for helping. He really is half mountain goat though. I'm going to have to get cabinet locks so that he can't climb on my counter, or desk, or tv cabinet. He loves the bathtub and he has really become dependent on "lovies". He always has a blanket or stuffed animal that he drags around and sleeps with. He's a wild man and plays hard but we sure do love him.

Fall Harvest
My canning/preserving season is over and the floor is scrubbed and mopped from stickiness. Hallelujah! This is what my mom and I have been doing for several weeks:
36 pints, 23 quarts applesauce
48 quarts, 12 pints pears
38 quarts, 12 pints peaches
12 pints apple butter
94 pints salsa
60 pints frozen corn
30ish quarts pickles
24ish pints relish
12 dozen pints, 12 quarts green beans, and my neighbor did 3 dozen beans
18 quarts dehydrated apples
I have some carrots, onions, banana and butternut squash, I picked about 24 pumpkins, and we had lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini and crookneck squash all summer. There are a few things I probably won't plant next year and I plan on doing beets and potatoes next year. I had a lot of fun with the garden and I learned a lot.

Getting ready for winter
Today we split more wood and cleaned out some more of the garden. I'm pretty sure we have enough firewood for 3 winters but that's ok.
