37 Weeks

When I first found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself "I'm going to do a better job at taking pictures through this pregnancy because I like going back and looking at pictures when I was pregnant with Cael". Well I did a fantastic job of that. Here is the first picture. 36 1/2 weeks.

At my doctor's appointment at 36 1/2 weeks I had gained 28 pounds, which I think is a little less than what I had gained with Cael at this point. I started at the exact same weight with baby #2 as I did with Cael, but I was working out before baby #2 and think I was actually wearing smaller clothes. After the morning sickness from the first trimester, that muscle is definitely long gone and I haven't worked out at all.

My due date is January 4th and I'm planning on having a c-section again even though the cause of my first c-section would make a vaginal delivery with the second baby lower risk. If I go in to labor on my own, I will probably try for a vaginal delivery. The doctors won't induce me for a vaginal delivery and if I go over my due date by a week, they will have me delivery by c-section anyway. Right now my c-section is scheduled for December 28th, but Cael was in the NICU for 5 days with low blood sugar. We don't really know what caused that and if we had the same scenario with baby #2, we wouldn't be released from the hospital until January 1st and we would have two deductibles!! How lovely! So we are trying decide if we should move the c-section to January 2nd and hope that I don't go in to labor early or if we should stick with December 28th. I also think it would be good for our son to have his birthday farther from the holiday if we can. The other benefit of waiting for the new year is that I have a Health Reimbursement Account (different than an HSA, in that it is employer funded) so I could make a deposit in 2013 for what is remaining unused in my account and then have a new balance in 2014 to use.

Its hard to plan for a c-section when there are so many different options and a baby may do what it wants to anyway! We will take him whenever we get him and love him anyway. I'm pretty excited and can't believe it is almost here.
